Code of Conduct

2024 Oath of Conduct for Managers and Coaches

I acknowledge that I have read, that I understand and that I will abide by the Bylaws of River Park Baseball (“League”).

I agree to uphold the mission and philosophy of the League by modeling appropriate behavior at all practices and games and by teaching the players on my team to act in a sportsmanlike manner, to honor the game of baseball and to show respect for the rules, umpires, managers, coaches, players and spectators of the League.

I commit to learning the rules of the game as set forth in the Official Rule Book for Babe Ruth Baseball – Cal Ripken Division, as modified in the Bylaws of the League.

I recognize that I am coaching children of varying abilities.

I will refrain from engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct with any player, umpire, manager, coach, parent or spectator in any game or practice. I will not argue the calls of an umpire. I will not taunt, ridicule, demean or belittle anyone at any practice or game. I will not use profane language or make a profane gesture at any practice or game. I will not make any gesture to indicate that an umpire, manager or coach is unfit to perform, or is ignorant of, his or her duties. I will not throw any object in frustration or disgust. I will respect all aspects of the game (rules, umpires, coaches, managers, players and spectators) regardless of the outcome of the game. I will honor the game by the manner in which I conduct myself at practices and games.

I will not under any circumstance physically confront an umpire, player, coach, manager, parent or spectator.

I will take full responsibility for my actions at any practice or game. I will remember that I represent the League. I will act modestly in victory and graciously in defeat and I will work with my players to act in the same manner.

I will remember that the game is for the players – not the adults – and will do my best to make the game fun for each member of my team. I will remember that each game is only a game and not a matter of paramount importance to any player, coach, manager, umpire, parent or spectator.

I will attend the managers’ and coaches’ meeting to be scheduled by the League as announced by the Board of Directors. I will attend the groundskeeping meeting to be scheduled by the League at Ciavarella as announced by the Board of Directors. I will attend the fingerprinting meeting, the date and location of which are to be determined.

I will help to prepare the field for play before each game and I will help to prepare the field for the next game after my team’s game is completed. I will make sure that all trash is disposed of and that the dugout and field of play are cleaned up after each practice and game.

I will complete and turn in my team’s official roster to the League President no later than Opening Day.

I will not attend any game or practice while under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance.

I will be responsible for the equipment provided to me by the League and I will return the equipment promptly upon the conclusion of the season. I will reimburse the League the cost to replace any lost or damaged equipment.

I acknowledge that disciplinary action may be taken against me if I am found to be in violation of the rules of the game, the Bylaws of the League, this Oath of Conduct, or for other reasons deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors of the League. This disciplinary action may include suspension, which will preclude me from attending games and practices for a length of time determined by the Board of Directors.
